Lei Tung Lutheran Hostel
Introduction
Lei Tung Lutheran Hostel have been established since 1993. Being one of the mentally handicapped service units of Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, we provides day training and hostel services to mentally handicapped adults to enhance their physical, mental and social abilities, improve their quality of life and facilitate their reintegration into the community.
Objectives
- Provide individual training program to enhance their life skills and increase their quality of life.
- Provide hostel and catering services to reduce family caring pressure.
- Promote social interaction and community fusion.
- Motivate family participation and develop partnership.
- Provide opportunity and training to volunteers so as to increase their understanding and acceptance on mentally handicapped persons.
- Promote community education and build up a correct concept towards mentally handicapped persons in the community.
Target
Age 15 or above, moderate to severe grade mentally handicapped persons. Hostel admission is not open to wheel-chair users.

Service
Skills life training
Self-care skills, communication skills, leisure skills, community life skills, social skills and participation activities, etc., in individual or group form of training.
Accommodation services
Hostel offers 24-hours accommodation. Clients can home leave on weekends, public holidays and festivals. A balanced diet is served daily and special meals are provided for clients who in need.
Case counseling
Social workers provide professional counseling and service referrals.
Nursing services
Nurses/ Health workers provide individual nursing care and administration of drug treatment to clients. Monitoring clients\' health condition and arrange medical consultation when necessary; nurses also provide individual nursing consultation and timely recommendation, arrange dental, medical check up and vaccination services etc.
Parents work
Maintain contact with parents through meetings, interviews, events and home visits.
Community education activities
To enhance community awareness and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities through community visits and volunteer services.
Residential respite service
Providing residential respite service to people with intellectual disabilities, allowing their families to reduce the pressure on long-term care and the need to deal with emergencies.
Paramedical Service
Regular occupational therapy, physiotherapy, Visiting Medical Practitioner (VMP) Scheme are provided. Clinical psychologist are provided by the Social Welfare Department.

Application / Withdrawal Procedure:
Referred by “Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services (CRSRehab-MPH)” of Social Welfare Department. All trainees, guardians and agency may initiate the withdrawal of service upon considering trainee’s needs and consent.
