Community Liaison Team For Yuen Long South Development Project

Introduction

In view of the latest situation of the Yuen Long South Development Project proposed under the “Planning and Engineering Study for Housing Sites in Yuen Long Southˮ (“Yuen Long South Development Projectˮ) and the needs of the potentially affected residents, Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service, LC-HKS has set up a “Community Liaison Team for Yuen Long South Development Project” (“Community Liaison Teamˮ) authorized by the HKSAR Government. We aim to provide assistance for the potentially affected residents and to facilitate their communication with relevant Government departments.

Objectives

To enhance the understanding of the potentially affected residents of the “Yuen Long South Development Project”;
To collect the views and concerns from the potentially affected residents of the “Yuen Long South Development Project” and facilitate their communication with Government departments; and
To provide assistance, counselling or referral service for the potentially affected residents of the “Yuen Long South Development Project”.

Service

Enquiry service: To provide enquiry services for the potentially affected residents and assist them to understand more about the related policies and progress of the Development Project.

Home visit: To outreach and conduct home visits regularly to the potentially affected residents.

Residents meetings: To organize meetings with the potentially affected residents so as to introduce the Development Project and publicise community engagement activities.

Community connection: To visit different relevant organizations in the community in order to enhance the mutual understanding for suitable policies to meet the needs of the potentially affected residents.

Counselling/ Referral service: To provide basic counselling service for the potentially affected residents when needed, assist them to resolve possible problems induced by the Development Project, assess individual’s needs and make referrals to suitable organizations or Government departments for follow-up and appropriate assistance, when necessary.
